Carrefour, New Projects for Brazil

Carrefour, one of the largest retailers in Europe, announced major new investments in Brazil, an emerging market in which many companies in the old continent seem to focus increasing attention. The French company said it will invest 2.5 billion reais (about $ 1.4 billion) in the South American country within the next two years to support its expansion into more northern regions.

Moreover, by the beginning of the year, the Paris-based company announced that Brazil will make available its service sales through installment.

Emerging economies Latin - American and Asian are helping to raise the level of sales of the company, offsetting the significant decline observed in France and the rest of Western Europe, an area that still accounts for three quarters of total sales revenue.

In Brazil and the rest of the Latin - American, revenues from sales are growing but at a rate of 20%.
